We welcome professionals from all backgrounds, including retired and semi-retired academics, university students, and those seeking internship or exchange opportunities in development, education, healthcare, and skilled trades.
Why Volunteer in Skills & Capacity Building?
In many parts of Ethiopia, limited access to quality training and resources creates barriers to employment and self-sufficiency. Our program bridges that gap—providing skills that lead to income-generating opportunities and a more resilient community.
Importantly, over 70% of Ethiopia’s population is made up of youth, including many recent university graduates. While they possess academic knowledge, most lack real-world experience and practical skills. This presents a unique opportunity for skilled volunteers—your years of experience are not just helpful, they are foundational.
As a volunteer, your role goes beyond teaching—it’s about mentoring, inspiring, and building the capacity of a generation that is eager to learn but lacks direct access to experienced professionals. You can help turn education into employment, and dreams into action.
Your Role as a Volunteer
As a Skills & Capacity Building Volunteer, you will:
✔️ Teach vocational skills such as sewing, handicrafts, farming, carpentry, or digital skills
✔️ Provide business training, covering topics like financial management, marketing, and business planning
✔️ Mentor aspiring entrepreneurs and guide them in launching their businesses
✔️ Organize workshops on leadership, confidence-building, and job readiness
✔️ Support local cooperatives and small businesses with strategic growth plans
✔️ Assist in developing microfinance and savings programs for women and youth
Note: Your role will depend on your skills, expertise, and the specific needs of the community. Volunteers work with local organizations, training centers, and small business owners to make a lasting impact.
